I first met Matt and Gemma a couple of years ago at the beautiful wedding of Andy & Aimee, in Whangarei.

Both Gemma and Matt had impressed me with their haphazard line dancing skills at the reception, and had me in fits of laughter when I came to editing the images later.

So fast forward two years later, and of course I was rather excited when Gemma called up and asked if I’d be keen to photograph their wedding in Taranaki!

I flew into a very windy New Plymouth, and was promptly whisked away to the beautiful Onaero Beach, half an hour’s drive up the coast. The weather was humid, and cicadas sang loudly as I drove around the rolling dairy country looking for locations. Black sand beaches, grassy fields, and pockets of native forest surrounded the venue – plenty of options – but with glaring sunshine and limited access, none were exciting me quite enough.

So the next day, I kept all my fingers and toes crossed that something amazing would happen.

And it did.

Nothing could have topped the amazing view of a silhouetted Mt Taranaki, as the sun went down on a long, beautiful day of love. Amazing words, incredible dance moves, and a couple that are each extraordinary, wonderful people in their own right – but are made extra special as a team.

To Dr. and Mr. Carter! xox 😉
