So normally when Stu and I head off to shoot and interview restaurants for the 52 project, we stay for around an hour and then head home for the evening. Not in this case.
On arriving to Gaslight, we were sat down with a table of beautiful French wines waiting to be tasted, 5 plates of steaming hot fresh pasta, 3 mains, and 3 desserts. This place does not do things by halves!
Gaslight specialises in traditional French and Italian cooking. And boy do they do it well. Topped off with a ‘hard-to-find in New Zealand’ Provence wine, and you’ve got a winner. We stayed for 4 hours and didn’t want to leave! Surrounded by eclectic vintage styling, books, and games – it’s somewhere you can spend hours at just looking at stuff, let alone eating!
