Cromwell Polytechnic was having a big Degustation day for the local community – and needed some photos for promotional purposes, along with some for Hospitality Magazine’s feature on the wonderful Debbie Crompton – Chef Tutor extraordinaire! I was given the fantastic opportunity to photograph behind the scenes in a busy kitchen, and spent a whole day shooting the food, the flames, and the stresses of the students putting out their meals. I loved every minute of it! Except the post processing of 14GB of images. These images – thanks to Debbie for giving me the opportunity, and many more – got me a contract firstly with Cromwell Polytechnic, and then Otago Polytechnic, who is my main source of work these days. If it hadn’t been for this one opportunity, I would probably still be working in a camera store, wasting all my years of study! Thanks Debbie for giving me the push, the motivation, and the chance to prove I could do it.
